Waldkindergarten in Deutschland und Korea – Bildungsverständnis, konzeptuelle Grundlagen und Forschung
숲유치원은 유치원개념으로 전 세계에 걸쳐 확고하게 자리를 잡았다. 숲유치원은 예를 들면 독일, 미국, 중국, 일본, 영국, 네덜란드, 이탈리아, 스웨덴, 덴마크, 핀란드, 스위스, 칠레, 오스트리아, 노르웨이와 베트남과 같은 많은 나라에서 운영되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국과 독일의 숲유치원 교육에 대하여 집중적으로 다루게 될 것이다. 독일의 숲유치원은 그동안 30년 이상의 역사 속에 교육기관의 일원으로 교육제도와 교육시스템에 확고하게 자리를 잡았다. 한국과 다르게 독일의 숲유치원은 노르트라인베스트팔렌, 슐레스비히홀슈타인 그리고 바덴뷔르템베르크를 비롯한 세 개주에서 법으로 명문화되어 있으며 900에서 2000개의 숲유치원이 운영되고 있다. 14년전부터 처음 운영되기 시작한 한국의 숲유치원은 계속 확장되고 있는 추세이며 현재 약 50여개가 운영되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 한국과 독일의 초기 어린이 교육개념에 대해 소개할 것이다. 또한 숲유치원의 역사와 유치원 교육의 선구자라고 할 수 있는 루소, 페스탈로치, 프뢰벨, 몬테소리 등과 더불어 현재의 숲유치원 교육에 토대가 되는 선행 교육기관들에 해당하는 ‘야외유치원’, ‘산책유치원’, ‘나들이유치원’ 등에 대해서도 다루게 될 것이다. 그 밖에 예를 들면 한국과 독일의 숲유치원의 하루 일과, 운영 인력, 자격, 어린이 반 구조 등 숲유치원의 여러가지 구조에 대하여 소개할 것이다. 한국과 독일의 숲유치원의 기반에 대한 설문 조사를 근거로 수행한 본 연구는 숲유치원 개념의 중요성을 보여주고 비판적인 관점에서 논의가 이루어질 것이다. 논문 마지막 부분에서는 한국과 독일의 숲유치원이 갖고 있는 미래 기회와 당면하고 있는 과제들을 제시할 것이다.
한국과 독일의 숲유치원 - 숲유치원의 교육개념, 기본 개념과 연구
The forest kindergarten has established itself worldwide as a daycare concept. There are forest kindergartens in countries such as Germany, Korea, USA, China, Japan, Great Britain, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Chile, Austria, Norway and Vietnam. This paper focuses on forest kindergarten pedagogy in Korea and Germany. In Germany, the forest kindergarten has been an integral part of the education and training system for over 30 years. Unlike in Korea, forest kindergartens in Germany are anchored in state law in the three federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein and Baden-Württemberg. There are between 900 and 2,000 forest kindergartens in Germany. In Korea, the forest kindergarten has existed for 14 years and is slowly developing. There are about 50 forest kindergartens in Korea. This article presents the understanding of early childhood education from both countries. It also discusses the history of the forest kindergarten and its pioneers (including Rousseau, Pestalozzi, Fröbel, Montessori) and precursors (e.g., open-air kindergarten, walking kindergarten, hiking kindergarten), which form the basis for today's forest kindergarten pedagogy. In addition, the structures of forest kindergarten pedagogy (e.g. daily routine, staff, qualification, group structure) in both countries are presented. Empirical studies from Korea and Germany on the basics of the forest kindergarten show the importance of this concept and are critically discussed. This article is rounded off with future opportunities and challenges of the forest kindergarten in both countries.
