Living Lab, which is attracting worldwide attention, can be said to be a participation method to expand user acceptance by utilizing ICT and IoT. In the early days, Living Lab was proposed as a participatory platform where real users experiment and study together, centered on science and technology, and now it is spreading to the social field. In Korea, various living labs are being attempted by the central government, local governments, public institutions, and corporations, but there is a limit in that they are operated centered on science and technology. In particular, it is necessary to reinterpret and expand the Living Lab, which includes the concept of social innovation, from the perspective of community and resident participation in that the experimental results can be adopted and implemented as policies in the public sector. Based on this background, this study intends to suggest a desirable operating direction in which the Living Lab can be spread as a social innovation model in Korea by analyzing the Finding Places case in Hamburg, Germany. The results of this study are expected to strengthen the social innovation factor for the Korean Living Lab, which is operated mainly by researchers and technology, and to contribute to establishing the direction for local residents and local communities to grow as innovative subjects.
