In socialist countries, the body is not only the basis for strengthening national defense and labor force, but also a tool for forming a collectivistic socialist culture through body arrangement of group and strengthening discipline. In particular, the socialist ideological dance centered on professional dancers performed the function of educating or transmitting socialist ideas and values, and the socialist mass dance centered on the masses played a role in strengthening people's bodies and collectivism. In socialist countries like East Germany and North Korea, there was a lot of interest in physical policies or biological power to form a collectivist socialist art culture. After the division, East Germany and North Korea introduced Soviet-style socialist ideological dance and socialist mass dance to form socialist art and culture through the body in a short period of time, but the social reaction was different. Both East Germany and North Korea accepted the Soviet-style socialist dance in terms of content, but in terms of formalities such as dance movements, costumes, and male and female pairing, a socio-cultural clash occurred in North Korea, unlike East Germany. These results can be seen that the difference between East Germany and North Korea is a result of cultural differences between East and West rather than socialist ideological problems.
